Mike- It doesn't hurt as much when you trip over a sandbag as it does with a kettlebell! John- I was a little sore, but in a good way, if you know what I mean.
Alternate 1 arm 55lb. KB press 9x3
with 1 arm/1 leg bent row 55lb. KB 9x3 both done in 15 minutes
5 minute rest
Alternate 250lb trap bar deadlifts 5x3
and 40lb DB snatches 5x3R,3L done in 8 minutes.
I am finding these EDT workouts to be just the ticket.

40lb sandbag halfmoon snatch 8R,8L
40lb sandbag get up 5R,5L

a belated congrats Leon on moving on up with the presses! good stuff.

I am also going to get a sandbag. I thought about getting a 70lb kb..but I think the sandbag is going to win out...your workouts sound like a lot of fun! Looking forward to reading more about them.

believe me...tripping over a kb is a lot more painful..I broke two of my toes clipping one of my 26lbers back in 2005....that pain was not good! LOL.

Thanks John, Mike and Regina. The mix of sandbags and KBs definitely does the trick. Have not had time to work out in over a week. Between work and projects at home, I had neither the time or the energy. I was hungry to work out today though.

Alternated 1 arm 55lb KB press and 1 arm/1eg 55lb KB renegade row
KB press 5x4R,4L rows 5x4R,4L done in 15 minutes
Alternared 445lb DB Snatch and 275 lb Trap Bar Deadlift
DB snatch 5x3R,3L TBDL 5x2 done in 15 minutes
I found that doing the snatches before the TBDLs gives me more thrust out of the bottom of the deadlifts.

Nice work Leon! Nothing like a break (planned or otherwise) to bring out "the eye of the tiger".

Haven't worked out in a week. Putting in long hours at work (same old story) and fighting off a cold- just felt tired all week. This is very frustrating. Feels like I am barely maintaining.

clean and press 8x2, chins 8x3; finished in 10 minutes
Alternated step ups with 50lb DBs and Bulgarian split squats with 20lb DBs
steps ups 5x3R,3L; Bulg split squats 5x3R,3L; finished in 10 minutes
Saxon side bends with 20 lb plate 5R,5L

I am gonna love it Mike. The walls and ceiling are all painted. Just have to do the trim molding and doors this coming weekend. Looking forward to having a section of the basement all finished and all mine. Worked out tonight amidst stuff in boxes, but it was ok, knowing what the space will be like next week.

Overhead lunge 60lbs, 5R,5L; 40lbs, 5R,5L

2/27/08. Rough day today. Spoke with my dad on the phone last night. He was told by his doctor he should not be driving anymore (he is in early stages of Alzheimer's). We talked alot last night and today when I got home from work. It's tough. We talked about working out. He's looking forward to working out tomorrow. So I had to workout tonight (as best I could)
Alternated sets of one arm KB press & one arm one leg KB bent row
55lbs press 3x4R,4L; row 3x5R,5L; decreased weight & kept going; 45lb press 3x5R,5L; row 3x6R,6L; decreased weight & kept going;
35lb press 2x8R,8L; row 2x10R,10L finished in 19 minutes. That's enough for tonight.

Leon

I am very sorry to hear about your father's alzheimers diagnosis. As always, impressive workout..with everything going on, it takes real strength both mental and physical and heart to push through a great workout like yours.

Great to hear about your new gym. Impressive fight on that cold.seems like you are winning this battle. Hang in there Leon good thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Thanks for taking the time to read my training journal..much appreciated!

Best
