OUCH!

A bit stiff today but I think I may be getting off easy. No real pain. Got in some neck and spine mobility this morning.

Took the wraps off the knee. Its still a bit swollen. Feeling better but ROM is very limited. After a good deal of loosening up I got in some practice with the KBs

24kg KB swings 15/15
24kg KB one arm C&P 5x(1,2,3,4) / pullups 5x(3,4,5,6)
28kg KB swings (untimed) 20/20, 15/15, 15/15, 10/10, 10/10
strict hanging leg raise 5 / cobra spine extensions

Knee felt pretty good. Icing as I type. The swings and presses don't seem to be any problem. It is much more difficult to channel full power into the presses as I cannot completely tense the muscles in my left leg. Swings seem to help loosen the knee up a bit. I was a bit nervous and cautious at first but they went pretty well. Anything that causes any impact is completely out of the question. Still walking pretty slow and gingerly right now.

Light ROM work with left knee. I can get nearly a 90 degree bend without any pain so I am feeling pretty good about it. No real pain just stiff. Swelling is down to the point where I can actually see my kneecap and quad muscles again.

Walked up and down the stairs a few times.

A1 divebomber pushups 7,9,11,13,15,7,9,11,13,7,9,11
A2 chinups 3,4,5,6,7,3,4,5,6,3,4,5
Hanging leg raise 3x3 / cobra
walk around the block

Ice the knee. Feels pretty good.

Glad to see you are feeling pretty good Eric.

I went to see the doc today. She is pretty certain I have a cartilage tear. I'm going for an MRI tomorrow. All I can say is this is the pits.

But the good news is that I can still workout as long as my knee will tolerate it. And I don't feel the pain when I workout so that is good!

I am hoping that whatever you have is very minor. If it is any encouragement I have been pretty surprised at how fast my own knee has come back after the surgury on Monday. Really the only thing now is a bit of tightness and swelling. The only marks are two really small holes on either side of the kneecap. I am walking normal now. Have to get the ROM back. Time will tell but I am hoping the doc. was correct and I will be running again soon.

I can say that I waited two months for this to heal before I got a definitive answer from the ortho. I just thought it would heal like every other little tweak I have ever had. Apparently meniscus damage does not heal. It got better to the point that I could do almost anything but go into a full squat or run but after a certain point it just never improved. Hopefully whatever is damaged in your knee can heal on its own.

It is certainly good news that you can at least workout on it now. Hope the MRI brings you good news.

Eric

Swelling is down very substantially in left knee. I can walk up and down the stairs normally without holding the rail. Worked on ROM.

28kg KB swings 15/15
24kg KB one arm C&P 3x(1,2,3,4,5) 2x(1,2,3,4) / pullups 3x(2,3,4,5,6) 2x(2,3,4,5)
28kg KB swings 10/10, 20/20, 15/15, 10/10, 10/10, 10/10
Cobra pressups

Knee feels good. I am actually very much enjoying the feel of working with the 24kg for presses again. I think the 28kg may have been a bit heavy for me to try to use for ladders. I can really only press the 28kg 3 or 4 times and those ladders up to 5 are still pretty hard with the 24kg. The higher numbers and cleaner form with the 24 is good. Shoulders have never felt better.

My wife finished the ten mile Crim Road Race up here in Flint in 1:01:58. Thats about a 6:12 per mile pace for ten miles!

While she was warming up I had access to the local YMCA.

divebomber pushups 5x(7,9,11), 1x7 / chinups 5x(3/5/7), 1x3
dumbell swings (60lbs) 5x(10/10)
divebomber pushups 7 / chinups 3

Did a lot of walking and some biking getting to different points on the race course while Sue was running to offer encouragement. Knee feels great.

jump rope 6 x 3 minutes / 24kg KB swings 6x(10/10)
divebomber pushups 2 x 10
24kg KB swings 10/10

First time using the jump rope since the surgury. Absolutely no problems from the knee. Walked with my wife after her run and felt great.

Argh! Got to buy a new refrigerator. Not a subject for the training log but gotta vent somewhere. The freezer section is finally ka-put.

You can report back on how easy it was moving it around because of your KB workouts!

The new refrigerator will be here on Friday. I will post the "fridge moving workout" relsults. Labor Day sales made the purchase a bit less painful.
