I am following Pavels Enter the Kettlebell Right Of Passage fairly closely. I would like to be able to clean and press the 32 although at 147 lbs I am a small guy and I am not in a great hurry. I am mulling over substituting one day of TGUs and one arm clean and jerks with the 32 for one of my C&P and swing days. I love the workout that long cycle clean and jerks provide but I have had trouble fitting the movement into a routine without really smoking my shoulders for presses.
Its nice to be able to view all the training logs on this site. Always helps to see what others are doing.

Those are some serious swings you are doing there. I just introduced the swing back into my training program a couple of weeks ago, and have found that my grip is pretty terrible . I have a hard time holding on to the 32kg for more than 10 reps with the one arm swing. I guess that's what happens when you stop working on swings and snatches for a while.
I'm right about the same weight as you, and pressing the 32kg is a goal as well. I finally got the press, and have done it a couple of times, but I think it was too soon, as my shoulders were pretty fried for a couple of days after. I've really had to take it easy since, and my shoulders are just now feeling better. Good luck on your goal. It feels really great when you finally get that thing up.

The swings have become absolutley the core of my workouts. Swinging the heavier kettlebell has really improved my grip.
Saw your log. Nice work pressing the 32 at your bodyweight.

Thanks, it was a pretty big acheivement for me.
I have a question about your pullups. Were they one arm pullups, or two? I assume one arm, from the different numbers in parenthesis. If so, that is very impressive.

All pullups and chins for me are two arm bodyweight. I have never actually made the commitment to work up to one arm pullps or wieghted pullups. Maybe something for the future. I just do a set of pullups between each set of clean and press during my ladders. A one arm pullup gets huge respect from me.

Just set a record high temperature up here in Michigan. I know no one wants to be here in the winter but we thank God we are nowhere south right now.
32kg KB swings 15/15 28kg KB one arm C&P 3x(1,2,3) / pullups 3x(3,5,7) 32kg KB TGU 3/3, 2/2, 1/1 32kg KB swings 20/20
Worked with my wife on swings and TGU technique. Sister-in-law came over. She loved using my wifes kettlebell. Says she wants to start working out with one. She caught on very quickly with swings and even cleaned the 26 pounder fairly easily.

Made a dumbell out of an 18 inch piece of galvanized pipe and some hose clamps. It is nice and ugly. Loaded it with 70 lbs and used it for my TGUs this morning. The pressure from the body of the 32kg KB is causing a lot of trouble with my right wrist. The dumbell has a bit different feel than the kettlebell for this movement. The dumbell actually feels a bit heavier when getting it into position and when it is locked out. The weight is all at the end of the arm where the kettlebell feels more stable as it rests lower. It was a fun change. I may add a couple of plates and put up 80 lbs with it. All reps were nice and solid.
a.m. JM 70lb Dumbell TGUs 1/1, 2/2, 3/3, 1/1, 2/2, 3/3 / chinups 3, 5, 7, 3, 5, 7 28kg KB swings 20/20, 10/10, 5/5
p.m. 70lb Dumbell TGUs 1/1, 2/2, 2/2 / chinups 3, 5, 5 jumprope 3 x 3 minutes

For your pullups, you have "pullups 3x(3,6)". Does this mean 3 sets of 3, then 3 sets of 6?

I do a set of 3 then a set of 6.
Clean and press , 3 pullups Clean and press , 6 pullups Clean and press , 3 pullups Clean and press , 6 pullups
Just seems to work. I like doing ladders for pullups and presses. Gets in a lot of reps without going to the limit on any one set.

Sunday 8/06/06 Off
Worked with my sister-in-law on swings and cleans. She has swings down and was even able to clean and press a 12kg kettlebell. She is pretty excited about it.

a.m. 28kg KB swings 15/15 28kg KB one arm C&P 3x(1,2,3) / pullups 3x(3,5,7) 75lb Dumbell TGU 5x(2/2) 28kg KB snatch 6x(5/5)
p.m. Got back from the school early. My room is still being cleaned so I could not get much done. Played around in the basement for a bit 28kg KB one arm clean and press 1/1, 2/2 / pullups 3, 5
Put a PVC sleeve on the dumbell pipe in the middle so it now has a handle just a little thicker than the kettlebell. Covered it athletic tape.
used the dumbell with 70lbs for TGUs 1/1, 3/3
Tried some dumbell snatches with 65lbs 5/5, 5/5, 5/5 These were fun. I have not done them in a long time. With a dumbell the snatches are dead hang with very little swing and there can be more knee dip to lock the weight overhead. Nice part about these is they do not rip your hands up so you can go until you really want to stop. Nice powerfull feel to them. Good option when it is so hot and humid and the hands are a bit raw.

Very cool Eric!
I'm sorry to hear about your wrist. The forearm guards may help. They have a thin flexible piece of plastic in them to displace the weight. My KB Class loves them.
I also got an email recently from a guy who is pressing the 88. Before the guards he only got 3 reps because the pressure on his forearm was limiting. Now that he has the guards he is pressing up to 7 reps. He said he can just keep going because the pain in his forearm is gone.
Just a thought.

The wrist problem will temporary. I reinjured it in a fall earlier in the summer and it is just a bit aggravated right now. May try the guards though. I have been using a cutoff sock but it has no reinforcement. The different feel of the dumbbell for snatches and presses is just a new challenge. Keeps things interesting. Actually for pure power, snatching a heavy dumbell is hard to beat.
Sister-in-law is comming over this evening and she and my wife will be swinging around the new 12kg bell.
