The sun is shining at last! So I went out and just had 30 mins of fun working on that flip and catch and the Russian walks.
Tai Chi in the evening - learning how to breathe which I know will impact on Kettlebell and other workouts.

Working on deadlifts and squats with barbell today. First time I've really worked like this. Really tired and feeling a little indimidated in an unfamiliar gym so struggled a bit to get the form right. But not too bothered because don't really need to work like this at the moment.

Hey Chris,
The dead lifts are awesome to work in with your kb training. I go through my spurts with DL'ing. I'm planning on adding it in at least once a week.
Squats with a barbell I'm not interested in doing any more. I did many of them when I was working out in a gym. It's a great exercise and will build nice looking legs and butt. ;o) I just don't have a squat rack and I'm not going to join a gym for it. I really like my kb front squats.
Its just like anything else. It takes some time to get the form down.

Hey Lisa - thanks for comments, will probably come back to barbell work in a few weeks and not train the day before - boy did I get a lecture! But did highlight some faults which transfer to kettlebells so I know I'm going to be doing a lot of ab work over the next few weeks! I can Squat quite happily with Kettlebells and have just increased my weight here so happy with this.
Sunday Jm Warm up sling shot, figure 8 and snatch 3 sets flip and catch-form really improved - one near perfect set! 12kg snatches 40,30,20,10 (Change hand half way) Double 12kg squats 2 sets 5 reps Lunge 10 reps each side 12kg forward, 6 reps each side back Windmill 5 reps each side Tai- chi form practise Stretch

Tuesday Tai-chi yesterday and some work on breathing which may be helpful Trainer session today - lots of abs work - fine when doing planks and press ups - less fine standing up. Too many aerobics classes I'm told, so working on this. 15 min blast 2 bells 20m apart 10 swings with one walk to other 10 swings repeat with cleans, clean and press and press ups. 10 snatch each arm run to other bell and repeat, run back repeat routine with 9 snatch etc down to one snatch. Deceptively tiring!

101 uses for a kettlebell- good for holding carpets away from the wall whilst painting. Made time for a quick workout JM 10 press ups At last have managed to press 12 using ab work from tues and breathing - only on right side for now - but it's a start. 15 min blast listed above, added 5 squats to walking part. Tai-chi
Have strict instructions this week. This is all I'm allowed! I always have difficulty doing what I'm told so this is hard - it's why I work so well with challenging children - I understand their thinking.

10 mile walk across Derbyshire moors this weekend - funny how you loose members of the Great British public after the first mile. Hardly met anyone despite walking through some beautiful countryside.

Sunday is funday - no routines just time to practise skills and new stuff. Boxers on my mats so couldn't do everything I wanted to do.Hey ho.... JM Tried Halo for first time as part of warm up routine, plus figure 8, slingshot and a couple of snatches just to wake me up. Press 4 on right side, 2 on left - becoming more confident so left will improve. One leg squats - decided to try a weight so added 8kg and 12kg
Kettlebell deadlifts - have not done these for about a year- a bit afraid for my back. So built up slowly using 1 bell 8kg,12kg,16kg,20kg. No probs - double 12kg. Then suitcase deadlifts Double 12kg,Double 16kg, Double 20kg-5 reps of last one. Probably could go to double 24kg but just a bit cautious- see how my back feels later, remember the trainer last year looking a bit nervous about this. Will talk to Chuzzy. (Feeling fine as I type this)
Russian walks with 12kg one arm and two arm- 3 sets backwards and forwards each time.
Double 12kg clean and squat two sets of 5 TGU -just to keep my hand in 8kg and 12kg
Mats clear so tried flip and catch but hands too sweaty and sticky so left. Stretch and tai chi

Wow really felt that increased weight in glutes and legs the next day! Training session -trainer just returned from course in US about functional Movement screening - bubbling with enthusiasm and different way to approach TGU. Also working on abs again. Was a bit disappointed because cleaned and pressed on right but still not left and can do it!

Lots of gardening today so have weakened and opened the last box of Maltesers from end of term gifts! Found time for workout though... Jm Sling shot and figure 8 warm up. Flip and catch two quite fluid sets Press ups on stairs as part of ab conditioning 12kg swing, clean, squat, press - ladders 1lr,2lr,3lr,3lr,4lr,5lr 2 sets - move onto 12kg from double 8kg has made me use those abs tp sqaut and press- the 8's are just not heavy enough- I can press these without pushing from lower body which is part of the problem. Swing, clean practise 12kgx4 TGU learning newer method which has a bridge halfway through so no weight yet stretch

Jm Sling shot and figure 8 warm up.
Press ups 2x5 reps 12kg swing, clean, squat, press - ladders 1lr,2lr,3lr,3lr,4lr,5lr 3 sets today -breathe in for squat and then hiss out using abs and glutes to push the bell into a press now makes that 12kg fly up when I get the timing right. Got some pretty hard stares from boxing guys as I did this! Skipping -4x30 secs Double 8kg press and walk there and back twice- 3 sets. Stretch and Tai chi

Training day -two sessions this week. Working on new TGU method - much more demanding because of that bridge, but perhaps a little kinder to my back. Snatch work - this has improved - but still have to watch abs and glutes when tired Squats - can still get right down to floor -worked on pushing out kness and resting for a moment or two before that final push upwards.
